About Tyra
Tyra attended The University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 2018-2023, and obtained a Bachelors in Fine Arts with an emphasis in ceramics and a minor in business. During college, she had the opportunity to take: making history, glaze formulation and kiln building. When COVID hit in 2020, Tyra bought a used Skutt Kiln-Sitter kiln and rebuilt it to start a home studio. During this time she started to explore putting flower motifs on her work. In her capstone show she explored landscapes and a dichotomy of porcelain vs wild clay earthenware work in a split 4 piece place setting tableware set. After college, Tyra and her husband Joey started a mobile coffee van business while still making ceramics in her home studio. In 2026 Tyra and Joey started the brick and mortar portion of Cedar Creek Coffee & Art in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Tyra currently works out of her studio that is located within the coffeeshop as a full time studio potter. Tyra also showcases her work in the Pastry Case show at Cedar Creek Coffee & Art and her mugs are currently featured in the living gallery portion as well.
